Day one- Bali!

So today is our first official day in Bali. We are staying in Song Broek- literally in the middle of the jungle, I am mesmerised by the beauty of it, like nothing I have ever seen before. I am surrounded by trees and birds and butterflies (and lots of creepy crawlies which I’m trying to get used to.) Feeling very at one with nature and eating lots of fruit and good food.

We have spent our day chilling by the pool and finally spoken to two other English girls from Canada who had lots of tips and stories to tell us. It was great to finally be able to have a conversation without the language barrier, as not many people speak English in Payangan.

Walking to the nearest shop was a shock to the system as the streets were riddled with stray dogs and chickens. This did make me feel uneasy but the kindness of the locals made up for it completely. The little children seemed fascinated by us stopping to say hello, I don’t think they had ever seen anyone as pale as me- which isn’t very hard.

Feeling very blessed to be here and enjoying every moment so far… roll on the next 27 days!

The start of our journey…

After the hardest morning saying goodbye to everyone finally made it to the airport. Obviously it wasn’t plain sailing as this is me and Katelyn… so after being told we couldn’t board the flight because we didn’t have a visa (all sorted now), and thinking we weren’t sitting together for a 7 hour flight we have finally managed to make it to Burger King for our final supper.

Feeling overwhelmed but very excited and I am wearing some of my beautiful gifts which are helping me to feel calm and happy. Anyway our flight has just been called, next stop Doha! (Also feeling star struck as Chesney off Corrie is on our flight.)

Let the journey begin!
